You only lose the money when either the company you have stock in shuts down or if you withdraw the money, which you shouldn't do right now. The 'value' of your portfolio may be lower right now but you don't actually lose that money until you sell. With the cyclical nature of the stock market it would be best to strap in and hold on until it cycles around. If you haven't diversified your portfolio you could be screwed but only idiots don't diversify. Idiots. Millionaires and legacies were made after the Great Depression by men who were able to scoop up those low cost stocks to sell later. Hence, buy low and sell high. That's all the seriousness I have in me today. It's horribly shallow and stupid TV, but you get to hear stellar dialogue like: "He’s not only my fiancé. He’s like my soulmate." and: "I know there’s a difference between good people who do bad things and bad people who do bad things." Plus, Whitney's really, really hot. I watch The Hills. It gets DVR’d every week. I marathoned through DVD sets of Laguna Beach one long weekend a few years ago and got hooked. It’s horribly shallow and stupid TV, but you get to hear stellar dialogue like:
