MCM, Rollbots, The Vector, and You

(I want to hand a post off to someone I met via Twitter a few months ago, who to me is like a Canadian force of nature.

He’s got a lot of stuff out there, and if you’re looking to self-publish books, he gets mad amounts of downloads, and tracks the stats (with analysis) over at his blog, which is entertaining, as well.

Guy’s got some new stuff coming out, and I thought you would find it cool. You know I’m a huge baby about my personal space, therefore you also know I’m like doing being serious here. Everything after the vid is the enigmatic “MCM”.)

Hi, I’m MCM and I’m insane. Above, you can see the trailer I made for my TV show, “RollBots” (airing on the CW4Kids in September) about spherical robots in a Hot Wheels world.

I’m also writing a mystery novel called “Fission Chips” where the audience decides what happens next. If you like being a bastard, you’ll like it. I cry myself to sleep every night because of what people suggest in the polls.

My newest book is “The Vector”, about a woman trying to survive a crumbling world dominated by bio-hackers and machete-wielding Chinese agents. You can read it for free on my site, with new chapters every Monday and Wednesday. There’s lots of blood in there.

Thanks to Brian for letting me post here today. I suppose I will now have to delete those incriminating photos of him with the toga, hedge clippers, and four geisha girls from Oregon. A deal’s a deal.

(MCM is also on Twitter. On a scale of one to ten, what you would use your personal RollBot for. Also, I’ve stopped using question marks for at least the next two months. How do you feel about this.)

  • LOL :(
  • These Comments made me do so much laughing! Gosh this comments section is so funny. Sadly I have nothing to add.
  • Surely the random LOL wouldve been gold. smh
  • Lotta comments between 7 people. lol
  • we can keep going, too. this post made my day all kinds of happy cuz of the RollBots. i <3 pretty much anything that ends in 'bot'.
  • I added something to the bottom of the sidebar for you, too.
  • hey!! i was gonna ask you what happened to that! yay! thanks!
  • i don't like the way <3 looks in this typeface. it looks like a heart with Parkinson's.
  • See? Funny. :(
  • you used a question mark. and a sad face. why do you think my funny is sad?
  • It's meta.

You're funny, but I think you're torn inside about it. Come to terms with it.
  • dude. my pretty flippy floppies broke. :(
  • More breaking (in the future, that is) news, Cavs fans, from TMZ:

    Bron-bron getting dunked on!
  • I'm way more interested in the Ed O'Bannon NCAA lawsuit:

Ed O'Bannon is having sadness about his number and face.
  • Saw that. Ed helped me win the only time I've ever won a bracket pool.

I had a smoothie with protein powder in it for lunch. Are you proud of me? That might have been my first one since the good ole days with CuCu.

Do the robots all speak Canadian in your books/tv shows? I don't like subtitles so I would prefer to hear/read them speak American.
  • MCM
We hired a special class of Canadian actor that specializes in speaking American, just for that reason. We don't want to confuse anybody. Hell, even Canadians aren't used to hearing Canadian on TV.

Sadly, my books are all written in Canadian with American subtitles.
  • Wish
Thanks, that helps explain why I was having difficulty following the plot.

You have tv in Canada? You are much further along then I thought.
  • MCM
We actually use our telescopes to look across the border into American homes, and watch their TVs. We have to guess at the soundtrack, but it works well enough.

I gotta say, I really love the crazy antics on that "CSI" sitcom. Knee-slappers every time!
  • They solve cases with their detective work.
  • but wait... you guys get Looney Tunes, right???
  • MCM
In flip books, yes. Almost all our entertainment is paper-based, due to the high ratio of trees per capita. The only limit is how many episodes you can fit on the shelf in your igloo...
  • crazy canadians.
  • MCM
We're so crazy, we invented basketball. Somebody said: "What a dumb idea for a game", and we said: "No, it's not dumb, it's CRAZY" and started laughing maniacally. And then we got locked in a padded room. Collectively, I mean. It was a very big room. Anyway.
  • ZOMGozors!! please tell me exactly when and where i can purchase RollBots action figures, thx.
  • MCM
Ask the overlords at Mattel... they control the action figures (and little bits of my soul). All I do is write stuff and hope it makes sense. Which it usually doesn't.
  • We're kindred spirits!
  • MCM
I make less sense than you. I go by "MCM" because I can't consistently spell my real name. So there.
  • so you're saying they exist and i could most likely find them at my local Toys R Us?
  • MCM
No, they're in development and you'd have to perform a precision raid on Mattel HQ with tranq darts and shock grenades to see one in person. If you manage to snag some, send me one. I've only heard rumours...
  • this can be arranged.
  • MCM
While you're in there, can you get me a few Hot Wheels sets? I want to make a device to fetch beer from the kitchen without having to leave my desk. I have the hamsters, but nothing to tether them to.
  • i have another question. did your inspiration have anything to do with a Popple having a robot's babies? or vice versa? just some combination of a Popple and a robot? thx.
  • MCM
Actually, it was just wanting to make marbles that could transform that did it. I had happily forgotten Popples until you brought it up. Now I'm going to have this concept of Popple robo-hentai stuck in my head all day. Thanks.
  • oooops. but hey, if it helps, i loved Popples!
  • MCM
And so did Optimus Prime, if you know what I mean.
  • GregOdenstonsils
    Brian Spaeth is deceptive.
  • MCM
    Also, only 3 feet tall.
  • I'm interrupting this post to bring you (well, specifically Alexis) this special news bulletin:

    Hedo cell phone commercial!
  • sell. out.
and hey, why not be awkwardly ghetto-fab while you're at it?
  • Watch the start - I don't mean to be editor-geeky, but his hood changes drastically between the wide and med shots. I this is a Euro thing too.
  • it's probably a stupid Turkish thing. and i'm Greek so i think i'm genetically required to hate him. or something. i don't read history.
  • When people ask why I have no desire to visit other countries, I'm just gonna send them this link from now on. How exactly would I be expected to keep my composure in a place such as that.
  • You mean you wouldn't join in his tall, awkward dancing?
  • TVBrain
Have you ever been in a Turkish Cellphone commercial, Joey?
  • Do you like movies about gladiators?
