One thing I rarely do is talk politics.

It’s not that I don’t have opinions, it’s just that most of them amount to not much more than shrugging and thinking the way the system functions is somewhat hopeless.

There are Republican debates every single day it seems like, and all I can figure is these people have short memories. There’s no other rationale for them going over their various facts with each other so much.

I’d much rather politics ran something like this video I made, and I made it for you to watch, and etc.

Do you like how I did subtle plugs for three separate projects in this one.

Everyone is putting red avatars in their Twitter to support either Wisconsin or Libya or The King’s Speech.

Who can remember all the revolutions anymore.

Anyway, I’m doing my part, and that’s writing a nice song for people to sing together, and chaining themselves to trees, and etc.

Get on your buster shoes,
Let’s go down to the square,
Nobody can stop our collective will,
Making things different takes hearts and signs.

We gotta stay together,
Our enthusiasm will work,
Everyone make a sign,
And we can change into democracy.

Get out your guitar and go at it.

What do the Libyans chain themselves to – like camels or something. lol

Can you count how many different ways this post is misinformed.

I made Twitters about it happen, but the big moment was when I realized I’ve basically made it impossible to communicate with me anymore.

This was a text I got from @bohnlein in response to my Twitters:

Liveblogging the sotu lol

And my response:

Is he speaking English or just like Colby Gibson lol

Even I have no idea what that means, so not getting a reply wasn’t too surprising.

Before I reveal the big business concept, let me tell you that it came from this Tweet by @milquetoast7.

@brianspaeth is everyone staring at you brushing your teeth
via web in reply to brianspaeth

I don’t remember what I said to instigate that, but I was probably brushing my teeth where there were other people around.

Hahaaaa I just typed “remember” like this: remembemebemebebemer. I couldn’t stop.

Oh man.

So the idea is really clean, high-end, private toothbrushing kiosks. They’d be like in places where I would use them, which is everywhere.

Are you going to vote on the library bill and get that new library in your area or not.

He did it again with these money guys who want to smelt aluminum and he’s dropping the ball on getting them their permission slips.

These business presidents bought that factory and every day he doesn’t let them smelt old cars it’s messed up for sure.

The June 9 letter was addressed to the City Council, Mayor Bob Burr, City Manager Brian Dissette and Zoning Administrator Bill Spaeth.

Spaeth is on vacation and was not available to comment on whether the smelting operation would be an allowed use under current zoning.

Way to go chief, this is like the time you didn’t mail my application to go on Here Comes the Bachelor in time to get to meet all those babes and go in hot tubs.

Now I’ll be alone forever and those smelting people are with me on how that one happened.

You have to let them smelt the aluminum or it’s messed up just like my life and how I’m not a famous TV stud.

Stop playing golfing.

I did more Twitter action last night than I probably have in the past two weeks put together.

The whole health care reform reaction/discussion – which many people hashtagged with #hcr – was going crazy.

My thoughts were swirling around and I too had to get them out.

In lieu of many people’s hyperbolic statements about either freedom, America, history, or Communism, I had some of these thoughts.

I won’t know for sure how I feel about #hcr until Beyonce makes her statement.

@Streakerdude2 I didn’t even know this was going on until like an hour ago lol

Why do they bang that gavel lololol

Is Biden crying or tired – he’s the Vice President right?

It occurs to me that if the Cavs win it all & LeBron leaves, it’ll be a true Cleveland moment, wherein we can’t even enjoy our one title.

Does everyone get free thermometers lol

Also, that guy in the picture was in the background of the CNN broadcast I turned on.

He was either exhausted or drunk, but one thing I know is he’ll be my lasting impression of this Health Care Victory Crisis 2010.

That’s the one absolute certainty here, by the way – everyone must make absolute judgement on whether this works or not by NOON TODAY.

UPDATE SAT 4/18: If you’re looking for Cavs/Lasers predictions and thoughts and such, they’ll be on my Twitter feed. “Cavs in 4, with no less than 7 Sheed technicals” sums it up.

To follow up on the whole Texas thing quick – this map is my solution for fixing the entire financial crisis.

1) Sell Montana to China for cash.

2) Agree to let Texas secede, but Trademark the name “Texas” before they do so, while forcing them to agree to my alternative supplied here, then sell the name Texas back to them for cash.

3) This isn’t totally crucial with all the cash we’ll have after steps one and two, but if we can also find a way to move Alaska and Hawaii to those locations shown on the map, I can’t help but think we’ll be a stronger nation.

The big news yesterday was actually this high-speed choo-choo train system Barack Obama wants to build with his own two hands.

If I were smart, I’d go do a find/replace and write myself Prelude to a Super Choo-Choo Train – the media could be all like, “Ooh, he’s so precious with his mind predicting abilities regarding technology and transportation in the near future…ooooh…ooohh…oooh…oo. Look at his muscular arms.”

Fast trains from the future are the way to go, especially if they make that bubble sound like a shuttle pod. Even if they don’t technically make that sound while running, I’d recommend putting in an external speaker system that broadcasts the sound.

It may sound dumb, but I’d be 75% more likely to ride these things if they did this.

Oprah is all about Twitter today – she’s making her first Tweet, after which she’ll hand the account over to a show intern, who will Tweet each day’s guests in a lawyer approved fashion.

Hopefully the show will cover the phenomenon of current and ex-basketball bloggers from Los Angeles interviewing girls from Orlando about the NBA.

The No-Look Pass did a lengthy piece with @alexiskn yesterday, and hit up @ColleenBurns today, who provides a link to a picture worth looking at for sure.

I have my piece with Colleen sitting here, but will probably save it for Monday, because I only ask her one thing about the NBA. Mainly I cover different scenarios in which we would watch Bad Boys II and hold hands.

(Follow me on Twitter here.)
(Download the first 55 pages of my epic, pretentious, and stupid book, Prelude to a Super Airplane, here.)

(I got this conceptual picture from here.)

I don’t have too much to say about this, I just want to say something, because it opens up so many possibilities when it happens.

Basically – Apple entering the eBook market via a tablet-sized iPod Touch.

(That link actually goes to a story on how it would affect the comic book market, but it’s a general article.)

Anyway, while Amazon’s Kindle has been great and moderately popular with hardcore reader-types, it’s not had a mass affect yet.

The eBook is a tough market, because there’s really no standard format or anything. Right now, my book PTSA sells as a secured PDF doc, and who knows where it can and can’t work right if it’s not on a computer.

I’ve tried to do formatting for the Kindle, but it’s beyond my ability and I’ve got better things to spend my time on.

Apple would force a more general format, or at the very least make it easy to buy/sell/read, and like with music, gobble up and/or create the market share. (I think I mangled that sentence.)

Really, I think it just opens up a floodgate of possibilities, not only for books and comics, but for those dying newspapers, as well. More specifically, for investigative journalism.

I have a few reporter/newspaper friends, and they’re all living with a perpetual “is this the week I get fired” hanging over them. I suggested the following based on the mythical tablet iPod Touch:

Like [redacted] – look at it this way.

Let’s say you did one hardcore, in-depth investigative report every month. Like really tackled something heavy, that only you could/would do, but with a broad appeal/interest. It’s your story – like the kind where you’ve dug up stuff on Senators and loans or whatever.

Would 10,000 people pay a buck or 50 cents a month to subscribe to that? And remember – you’re marketing to the entire WORLD here. 10,000 people is nothing. (Or maybe you do two/month – I don’t know how long these things take.)

There are certainly enough political junkies out there who would have interest in that. You might see 10K people in DC alone.

In any case, that’s 120K a year, before taxes and Apple fees and such. Basically a personal newspaper of sorts – what’s missing right now is the distribution method, and if Apple supplies it, we’ll see something like this.

Plugging in your Touch and having all your content appear every morning in an organized (and mobile) fashion is much more appealing than sending money via Paypal, lugging your laptop around, logging in to a website, etc.

The thing is, people will pay for things like news online, if you make it easy and user-friendly. Apple would be a company that could do that.

Remember that the music industry was a mess before iTunes came in and blazed a more definitive path.

Yes, music is not in the best shape, but it’s a better time than ever to be a musician, because you don’t need to go through the whole “get signed to a label” process to make it.

It’s the big labels who are hurting most, because their old business model no longer works. The artists have more opportunity than ever, and that should be exciting to creative types.

Anyway, I know this was kind of rambling, but the sky doesn’t have to be falling just because the Rocky Mountain News shut down.

The Who Shot Mamba? DVDs went out this morning. In honor of Happy Presidents Day on Monday, I may not post all weekend.

Bob (aka Tom) reminded me of how we used to bombard our fraternity president with declarations of “Happy Happy Presidents Day” pretty much until his nose started to bleed, back in the day.

Estimated time until the WSM? director emails me for picking an out-of-focus screen-grab he doesn’t like…13 minutes. Sorry – I wanted some vague League of Roundie Henchmen action:

Also, Happy Happy President’s Day to the secret war hero of olde, Peter Ovaire. I’ll be Twittering during All-Star stuff, I’d guess – especially HORSE, which I’m obligated to watch. Need to see if it’s really as bad as I imagine it can be.

(If you want to know about the picture above and the fantastic music video I’ve found, just skip to the bottom.)

My sports reading has been pulled way back in recent years, and now I’m going to need to cease popping in at my longtime favorite Cavaliers message board.

I just can’t read stuff like this anymore.

To those who do not believe in a conspiracy to disrespect LeBron and the Cavs unless and until he signs with NY, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that you may be interested in.

All this is fodder and ammunition for class action lawsuit(s) alleging collusion and RICO. How many times has the NBA taken away a triple double? How many teams with the (soon to be) best record have only one all star rep? Even after a player goes down to injury?

Besides the use of bridge cliches, there are multiple people there who believe that LeBron’s triple double was taken away last week for primarily two reasons:

1) As a juvenile retaliation for Dan Gilbert’s negative statement about Mo Williams not making the All-Star team.
2) So that LeBron will get upset and have sadness about being a Cavalier, driving him to sign with the Knicks.

The first point I wouldn’t even know how to address, and as to the second – if the NBA were fixed and there were all kinds of weird conspiracies to get LeBron to the Knicks:

1) They would’ve fixed the draft in 2003, and you know, just put him on the Knicks
2) They would possibly use a better tactic than “make him sad”. Perhaps a reworking of the collective bargaining agreement, which would allow NY to sign him for equal dollars.

One other thing to note: he didn’t actually get the triple double. And I’m not saying he won’t go to the Knicks – just that he’ll probably have a better reason than, “My career rebounding statistics are off by one, and they were mean to Mo. :( “.

Look, Cleveland fans – things like this are why people think we’re idiots. Stop playing victim, stop alleging RICO over a mis-categorized rebound, and maybe worry about wins and losses.

A farmer is being sued by some illegal immigrants who are mad that said farmer wouldn’t let them trespass while sneaking into the country.

At one point, it said, Mr. Barnett’s dog barked at several of the women and he yelled at them in Spanish, “My dog is hungry and he’s hungry for buttocks.”

I don’t know how this lawsuit can happen, but speaking of buttocks, I refuse to apologize for or hide the following any longer.

How this group called “Girlicious” and their music videos got by me before, I don’t know, but I love them.

I’m not even going to post one here, because I’m 90% sure it qualifies as soft-core pornography. Here’s a link to their YouTube page.

I recommend starting with “Like Me”. I’d say it’s my favorite video since, and in the same family as, Christina Aguilara’s Dirrty.

IF you’re wondering what you’re about to watch, I’ve come up with some alternative names for this group: Team Underwear, We Are Young and Taking Our Clothes Off, Doing It With the Air Girls, Woo-Woo! Look At Us!, and Slutzillas.

I think my new favorite person is Illinois (soon to be not) Governor Rob Blagojevich.

How he can skip his own trial thingie to make the talk show rounds, and during said talk show rounds say things like, “I thought about offering the Senate seat to Oprah” – I just think he’s a genius of some kind.

I’m locked on ABC all morning, because he’s going on The View, and while I’ll need to cut myself the entire time I watch, I’m thinking those ladies are going to tear into him pretty badly.

That said, my favorite thing he’s done was when he went jogging in the middle of a blizzard, simply because the media was outside his house. It was awesome – I’m sure there’s video somewhere.

He’s playing victim like never before, and there’s basically no way he doesn’t get a book deal at some point, so good for him.

Here’s a way to win a totally free copy of Prelude to a Super Airplane – simply email me, explaining in a brief paragraph, what’s happening in this screen shot from Who Shot Mamba?:

My favorite explanation gets a free book. (If you’re new, Who Shot Mamba? is a feature film I had a hand in that’s not out yet. You can see more about it here, including a short synopsis.)

Speaking of WSM?, I’m going to make about 20 preview copies available on DVD soon.

There will be several hardcore requirements to be eligible to acquire one, including, but not limited to, that you’re not crazy, and can verify who exactly you are in some manner. If you think you might want to be in on this, let me know via email.

Speaking of “that world” – Matt Watson over at DBB reminded that I was a part of Pajamas Media via YAYsports!, and that this one time I volunteered myself for some panel discussion on the UN and foreign policy or something.

This was the only evidence I could find of that.

Okay, it looks like there were three participants, one moderator, and I have no idea what YAYSports was doing in there. Does Pajamas Media have a clue as to our areas of expertise or fields of study?

AS I WROTE THIS, Matt found it. Looks like I actually tried to contribute for a little while, but then this happened:

#34 YAYsports! Dec 6, 2005 02:20 PM
What do you guys think Kofi Puffs would taste like? I’m guessing kind of “oat-ish”, with a little “cinnamon-ness”.

Steve doesn’t like me. sad face —————> :(

#90 YAYsports! Dec 6, 2005 02:59 PM
I’m sorry.

Semi-related, because I’ve been asked – I am not going to unload on the sports blogosphere in any way, shape, or form. I’m not even down on sports blogs – it was just a misguided idea to try and re-connect.

I also won’t abandon Triangle Basketball Attack Game – I’m waiting for some serious analysis from a couple people I sent it too. You can certainly help by spreading word on your own site, if you have one. The healthiest thing for it is if people talk about it.

Anyway, the new comment system isn’t locked in stone or anything, but it’s supposed to have a lot of great functions, and doesn’t seem to be too otherworldly different? No idea if it will stay or go – I welcome and encourage your input.

Okay, so let’s talk Cavs-Blazers-Lost tonight. I say they win, and the island wins – discuss. Also, I’ve gotten my first book review from like a legitimate literary person – one who doesn’t know me at all.

Very excited – will post it tomorrow.

Barack Obama was now the most famous man on the planet, and he was feeling deeply troubled by it.

Looking out over the City of Washington DC, Barack couldn’t help but think that perhaps becoming President of These United States of America was a grave and terrible mistake.

Barack wasn’t even officially the President yet, and already he felt overwhelmed, what with spending an inordinate amount of time putting wreaths on things, and finding ways to say the same inspirational things over and over in different ways, and fighting mini-battles to retain possession of his Blackberri Tornado.

This last item troubled Barack Obama in no small way, and in this moment, Barack was fingering his frustration into said Blackberri.

Who he was fingering to was Barack’s greatest secret, and in reality, was the very reason he was now about to become President of These United States of America. The email that was fingered by Barack Obama went as follows:

from: Barry O
to: Airplane Brian
date: Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 7:32 AM
subject: LAL-CLE wtf???

B – Now they’re telling me I can’t watch Lakers-Cavs tonight – I’ve got to go put some wreath on a grave or something. I thought I did this yesterday?! Any ideas? wtf???

B

PS – Almost done with your book – I like it but it’s hard to get done because they’re telling me I shouldn’t be seen reading something that’s this pretentious, epic, and stupid? wtf, right??

Who exactly “Airplane Brian” was, Barack Obama knew, would be the most difficult thing to conceal during his hoped-for eight years in office.

Truth be told, Airplane Brian was a young actor/writer who had, at one time, written Barack Obama’s favorite basketball blog. This, despite the young actor/writer’s fandom for a team that was not the same team that Barack Obama himself liked.

“Irony is a cruel adversary,” Barack said to himself, twice, and out loud, and then once backwards.

Regardless, some time back, Barack Obama had began a correspondence with the actor/writer via online internet email, for Barack felt that only this young man held the secret to Barack’s need to appeal to the youth of the country.

Airplane Brian had indeed proven invaluable, instructing Barack to use Twitter, and to profess his love for doing basketball playing, and to say things that people liked, and to not murder anyone and then talk about it afterward in public.

Barack planned, upon being inaugurated, to continue to implement Airplane Brian’s strategies, including, but not limited to, a daily, shirtless, Off-hours Weightlifting session on the front lawn of the White House.

And so now, in this moment, Barack Obama waited for a response from Airplane Brian, who was his secret advisor, and a young actor/writer, and more than anything, Airplane Brian was Barack’s greatest resource of advice and information about how to appeal to the youth.

Yes, Barack knew that Airplane Brian would find a way to ensure that he could watch Lakers-Cavs tonight, and for this reason, Barack Obama was not as deeply troubled as he was just moment ago. Furthermore, and etc.

I’ve posted the first 20 chapters (roughly 55 pages of PTSA) on this site. Links to each of those are at the end of this post, or you can download all of them as a pdf by clicking here.

Somehow Senator Joseph Piperbraum had never been in this particular airplane station goods shop before, despite his many important Senatoring travels.

That’s what made his purchase of items at the airplane station goods shop so exciting. It was exciting because it was new. His arms were bursting with a variety of items – some he needed, some not as much, and some he had no use for at all.

Senator Piperbraum brought his mother on this trip, and she noted that the prices here in this airplane station goods shop were higher than in other goods shops, such as the regular one, near her home in a suburb just outside of Akron, Ohio.

“Mother, please,” he had a way of chiding her that was both loving and warm. “I’m a United States Senator now.”

“Senators don’t worry about money?” she had this same loving and warm demeanor, and it was clear he had inherited it from she, as they were related.

“Senators don’t have their mothers telling them how to spend the money they have, be it a little or a lot.”

He winked at her. She winked back, and they both laughed. His mother had raised him alone, and thus Senator Piperbraum had a special bond with her. It was special because he didn’t have this bond with anyone else. Just with her, his mother. He was a Senator.

They winked at each other for forty-five minutes, alternating eyes each and every time.

An airplane station goods store employee noted this – first with amazement, then annoyance.

Senator Piperbraum had in his hands the airplane station goods store’s last copy of that week’s Entertaining Weekly, and several customers had asked for said periodical. There was a shortage of the issue nationwide, as the cover story was all about the fifteenth, and final, reading book in the Andreanna Marsupial series.

The airplane station goods store employee tapped the Senator on the shoulder.

The Senator turned his head to this uninvited guest to his world slowly, and with a squint in his eyes that conveyed anger and confusion, and an amazement to be in this situation. It was not unlike what Bruce Willis would have done in one of his many famous movies.

“Mister, you gonna buy that EW or what?”

The Senator’s mother began to speak, but her son was quick to hush her with an ever-so-slight wave of his hand. Being a Senator brought perks, such as this air of natural authority. Joseph Piperbraum liked to think he was singularly unique in this way, but of course, there were one hundred and five other Senators in These United States of America, as well.

“I’m a United States Senator. Show me your finest airplane neck stabilizing cushion, and I shall purchase it today.”

He hesitated, and it was effective.

“Without hesitation.”

Senator Joseph Piperbraum was enjoying this airplane station goods store indeed. He would be coming back to this place, and he would bring his mother with him, because they had a special bond, and he knew this bond would never be broken.

No matter what.

I’m as excited about the election as anyone.

I wouldn’t paint myself as a political junkie – to be honest, I’ve never even voted. But look – how could you not be into all this “flying cars vs. airplanes” stuff?

The country hasn’t been this divided since The Civil War, and that was like, a long time ago or whatever.

Plus, for the first time in I don’t know how many years, we’ve got two over-60 white males running for President of These United States of America. This is historic stuff, and I’m not going to exclude myself due to apathy and ignorance again. Not this time.

Now, whom exactly will I vote for? At this point, I’m sure you know it’s going to be whichever candidate is more pro-airplane.

While the current Democratic President has done a phenomenal job in all arenas – the economy is back, foreign relations are wide-open, racism is all but extinct, he’s cured sickness – there’s one thing about him that I can’t really vibe with, and that’s his stance on airplane ride safety.

I swear to you, this has nothing to with my brother’s position with ARMTA. Remember, we haven’t even spoken in over a decade and a half, furthermore.

It’s just that with the number of airplane rides I take, airplane ride safety is of the utmost importance. Even if I’m not a rider on a given airplane ride, I might be thinking about it, and the last thing I want to do is think about a fiery, crashy, airplaney, airplane ride crash.

There’s nothing sadder than a broken airplane wing, and if there’s a bunch of dead airplane riders all over it and/or around it, it’s even worse.

Here’s a quote our current President gave last week, referencing his proposed 46% cutback of ARMTA funding:

“We haven’t had a major airplane ride crash in the seven years I’ve been in office. Frankly, I think airplane ride crashes are extinct, and with the potential to see flying cars within the next two to four years, we may be approaching the day when people don’t take airplane rides at all.”

You can see my fears in every single word of that statement, except for “airplane ride”, provided its taken on its own and out of context. I need not remind you – the liberal hippie running for President on the left shares his view.

Summing up, in conclusion, not only is the Democratic Nominee ready to make airplane rides more dangerous, he’s also ready to usher in a world without any airplane rides at all.

I think you know where I’m leaning, and that’s with a no-nonsense, pro-airplane President. Namely, Republican Nominee Peter Ovaire. Oh, and he’s also a big-time war hero, and nobody even knows why. That’s how much he’s respected!

In conclusion again, Peter Ovaire’s my man, and he’s got my first-ever vote.

Brad Radby’s Foreward, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 10, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, Chapter 13, Chapter 14, Chapter 15, Chapter 16, Chapter 17, Chapter 18, Chapter 19, Chapter 20, Chapter 31

Army Captain Peter Ovaire was an ambitious soldier, with large ambitions.

In the heat of battle, he would often, not unlike a professional athlete, picture himself winning the battle. Peter Ovaire felt this visualization technique was an essential part of his many and varied Army Captaining successes.

Peter Ovaire wasn’t shy about sharing this technique with his men, and they often stood in awe, as Peter dazzled them with his ability to both fight a battle and picture himself winning that same battle, all at once. He found this amusing, as Peter Ovaire had always been able to do two things at the same time – perhaps this was why he had become the top young Army Captain in this, America’s Secret War With Brazil.

Captain Peter Ovaire was attempting his visualization technique on the morning of September 14, 1973, as he drove his grounded Army Battle Airplane through a one-foot thick solid gold barrier – the barrier that surrounded the headquarters of the Brazilian Warlord, Horatio Rodriguez.

Being inside the headquarters of Horatio Rodriguez was exciting for Peter Ovaire, for he had now done in seven days what the entire Marine Corps had been unable to accomplish in seven weeks.

Still, apprehension loomed, for in front of Peter Ovaire stood a second solid gold barrier, and this barrier was two feet thick. Peter did the math, and noted that the new barrier was twice as thick as the first.

(His co-airplane-driver, an aspiring scientist named Markush Von Vendervan, was supposed to be doing these calculations, but he was currently having visions of what he would later say was his “scientific destiny”.)

Peter Ovaire noted several other things, including, but not limited to, twelve additional solid gold borders that still lay ahead of him and his grounded Battle Airplane. These borders were each a full foot thicker than the one that preceded them, and all were made of solid gold.

It was helpful to see these at this time, for it assisted Peter Ovaire in visualizing himself busting through each and every one of them in his Battle Airplane, which was now on fire.

The fire originated from the five thousand men and children that made up Horatio Rodriguez’s El Elite Warrior Squad, who were now shooting Peter Ovaire’s Battle Airplane with flame throwers, and grenades, and handheld missiles, and special boulders, which exploded upon impact.

Regardless, Peter Ovaire was the best and brightest young Captain in the entire Army, and for this reason, he and his Battle Airplane pushed forward without hesitation, and penetrated the inner hot tub party war chamber of the Brazilian Warlord, Horatio Rodriguez.

In this moment, Peter Ovaire knew that he had won America’s Secret War With Brazil for These United States of America, and he also knew that this would propel him into the national spotlight as a war hero, even though America’s Secret War With Brazil was a secret.

Peter Ovaire sat back in his Army Battle Airplane seat, ignoring his babbling young scientist of a co-airplane-driver, Markush Von Vendervan. For in this moment, Peter Ovaire thought of his large ambitions.

Captain Peter Ovaire, in fact, was using his visualization technique to see the day that he would become President of These United States of America.

Brad Radby’s Foreward, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7, Chapter 8, Chapter 9, Chapter 10, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, Chapter 13, Chapter 14, Chapter 15, Chapter 16, Chapter 17, Chapter 18, Chapter 19, Chapter 20, Chapter 31

LeBron better get his stuff together before I accuse him of spending all his time at the movies again.

Yes, he had a triple-double lasterday, but only because he went out of his way to try at his doing rebounding at the end, in order to get said triple-double.

The rest of the game he was acting like Tracy McGrady.

Z being out for a month (my estimate) stinks, so maybe it’s time to do the Wally-for-Brad Miller trade. All goes well, and Wally can be back with CLE by this time next month. He looks like he could use the rest anyway.

I see a lot of music videos at the gym that I’ve never seen before – probably because the gym is the only place I watch music videos.

Anyway, below is where some German chicks called Ultra Flirt try to trick a man into giving them a Ferrari.

I like this because it completely fools you into thinking the girls are hot, plus the whole thing seems like it’s from 1985, but Germanies are really doing this today.

Oh, and it’s a remix of “Heaven is a Place on Earth”, but I don’t think there’s any irony involved in this concept.

I like the part where the robot voice goes, “Let’s go!” and it says “Let’s Go!” on the screen at the same time.

Speaking of the 1985, here’s another video from last year where Doc Brown helps rappers dance with girls.

Catchy in its own way, plus at some point, Doc apparently dropped the wife, kids, and choo-choo train. It’s like a continuity mystery.

Okay, so Monday two things will happen.

1) The full lowdown on my book. Excerpts start getting posted Tuesday. If you’re clever enough, you can buy it now.

2) You can start playing Vegetable Trivia Game for real, and it’s the only way to win a free copy of my book, and it can only be done on Twitter. If you’re not following me now, maybe you should go start.

I’ve almost got it figured out, and I knew that was true when I started using it to hit on girls.

Hopefully that counts as the “road win against good team” everyone has been asking the Cavs to demonstrate the ability to achive.

I don’t think we saw the best the Nuggets had to offer lasterday, but that doesn’t change the fact that CLE blew them out.

Love what Brian Windhorst had to say here about the timeout in the third – I think that sums up that Coach Mike can coach. I give in.

Little known secret though – the Cavs actually hired the “offensive coordinator’ type assistant I’ve been asking for since “Coach Mike Year One”.

It’s very realistic, looking at the schedule, for CLE to head into that January 9th BOS game with another 11-game winning streak.

By the way – the Celtics actually have to play on the road at some point this year, right?

I’m not trying to take too much away from what they’ve accomplished, but both BOS and the Lakers have played an extremely unbalanced number of home games.

Anyone else think the league wanted to see both get off to amazing starts to pump up the attraction of the Christmas Day game?

President Bush went ahead and gave a bunch of band-aid money to Chrysler and GM. My guess is he just didn’t want to add “let auto industry collapse” to his legacy.

“Collectively, the automakers have asked Congress for $34 billion, but they are getting $17.4 billion and that will only get them to March 31,” [some smart person] said. “This is basically a football that the Bush administration is punting to the Obama administration; it lets the automakers avoid bankruptcy, but it doesn’t provide them with enough money to get through 2009, so they’re likely to need more money from the next administration.”

Can one plan out and implement an entire overhaul of the auto industry by late March?

Of course not – especially when by the first week in February all the work will be going into lobbying for more money.

And these might technically be loans, but they aren’t loans – not when everyone is in general agreement that there’s no way in hell the companies will be able to afford to pay them back.

Analysts say this opens the doors for basically any industry feeling a crunch, or pressure, or boredom to start asking the government for money.

You know I’m a fan of Atlas Shrugged, and I’m telling you right now, we’re starting to live it in this country. It’s happening. That’s bad.

Nobody is even sure if any of this stimulus (read: charity) will do anything, because of the ill-at-ease feelings here and there among the populace, etc.

“It is going to be tough to get out of this. People are scared,” said David Wyss, chief economist at Standard & Poor’s in New York. “How do you restore confidence when the markets have lost it?”

I’d say that more than any of these actual financial moves, the #1 thing that will help the economy is for the media to stop scaring the hell out of everyone.

Anyway – your interview questions are on the way, just be patient. Also, if you have a website or blog or something you want linked to in your interview, please let me know, and I’m happy to do it.

Okay, so I finally watched Twilight, albeit not exactly in a theater.

Let’s just say I saw it “somehow”, and get to what matters – what did I think?

In comparison to the book, it’s far superior. In comparison to other movies, it was far inferior.

I know that’s not very specific, but it’s no less true. The movie wasn’t horrible, but it was bogged down by an obvious attempt to stick to the source material.

Had they moved farther away from the book than they did, it would’ve been decent. Like, maybe just keep the names, and do everything else differently?

Another movie I watched this weekend was Alvin and the Chipmunks – the live-action one from last year.

You know I like “nice” things, so this was totally watchable for me, especially since the girl in Alvin and the Chipmunks was someone named Cameron Richardson.

Really weird, because she was awesome in this movie, but the Google search shows she looks a little different when she’s not in Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I mean, she’s still really good looking and all, but when she’s in non-Alvin and the Chipmunks material, it’s just not the same.

I don’t know – maybe it’s because all her non-Alvin and the Chipmunks material sees her in the role of “slut” or “seductive slut” or “regretful slut”. She does sweet and nice really well, as seen in Alvin and the Chipmunks – her agent should push for those roles.

Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Anyway, what else is going on in the world on this Monday?

Someone threw a shoe at President Bush over in one of those Middle Eastern countries. I thought he took it really well – he seemed to actually think it was funny.

What struck me as significant was that no Secret Service Agents came to the scene for about 30 seconds.

Like, the guy was able to get two shoes launched before they even got anywhere near him. I think he would’ve had time for a third, as well.

I wish I had more to say that was funny, but I think peaked with the Christmas Child, with his pretty eyes and his Christmas Smile.

I feel like it can only go down from there?

The Cavs are having a love affair with themselves – they really do seem to like each other.

I love how they blow out who they’re supposed to, and the LeBron sits down for the last 15 minutes of the game – it’s really amazing, and such a sharp contrast from the Coach Mike teams of years past.

I give him credit, along with LeBron. They’ve won me back.

Jason Calacanis, who is like an important internet type person, made a mission statement of sorts for the country’s overall situation.

I love it – you can read it at that link. (Includes a 48-hour work week, so don’t read if you can’t handle.)

The summation is thus – let’s stop whining and worrying, and start working hard and kicking ass again. I don’t swear often, so you know I mean it.

In theory, YES. This is how it should be.

(I don’t know if it actually works in practice on a large scale. The application depends on how far we are down the road to the opening of Mike Judge’s Idiocracy.)

Anyway – this is super broad, but you can think of America’s situation in one of two ways.

It’s either a) a scary time or b) an exciting time – I think it’s b.

While there are doors shutting all over the place, it’s also a time for innovation and creation, so we’ll see what new doors are opened and/or created.

Quick aside on the auto industry. How detailed could their thrown-together-in-10-days “plan” be? Like a bullet point list?

* More energy efficient cars.
* Restructure plant operations.
* Work for $1.

Awesome – exactly how are you going to do the first two? Like, actually explain it.

I guess to me – and yes, I’m remedial – they just figured out they’re weeks away from extinction a month ago? Who’s the head accountant over there?

So apply it to the auto industry – if you’re in the (a) mindset, you’re, “Oh my god – the auto industry! The sky is falling!”

You know how I feel about this – if this is just life support for another six months, then you have to let them die, unless they have these rock-solid plans that you just throw up everywhere from, because they’re such sure things.

Me, I’m in the (b) state of mind on it – what an amazing time for someone to step forward with a new way to produce cars for Americans, by Americans. 2009 could be the year the auto industry in this country changed for the next century.

Maybe I’m like a pollyanna, if I’m using that right, but I think that’s the American way – work hard, innovate, fight back from the lowest depths, etc.

If Captain America were stuck in a 50-foot deep hole, would he sit there and whine and cry for someone to throw him a rope, and then give up and die if nobody did?

No, Captain America would get his super-strong shield, and find a way to use that, combined with his wits and sheer force of will, to get out of that hole himself.

And when he got out, he wouldn’t congratulate himself with a nice bonus – he’d go look for what situation needed his ass-kicking skills next.
